The Presence of God on the Hill

This photo was taken at the Hogar de Ninos Emmanuel (Emmanuel Children’s Home) in Juarez, Mexico - Translation of the inscription: “The Bible is Truth, Read It.”

Some moments in life leave us speechless—where words fail, and only tears of gratitude remain. That’s what Ken Mason experienced as he entered the Lopez home after a tour of Emmanuel Children’s Home on Thursday, February 19th, 2025. Overwhelmed by the tangible presence of God, he could do nothing but weep.

The power and presence of God was so prominent, I couldn’t speak... I could only weep with thankfulness in my heart for allowing me to see Him in and through the Lopez family and all that has been accomplished through the Emmanuel Children’s Home.

And he wasn’t alone.

For decades, Emmanuel Children’s Home has stood as a beacon of restoration and hope in Juarez, Mexico. What started as a vision from Josue Lopez over 60 years ago is now a thriving ministry, passing through fire and refinement, ready to impact a new generation. The presence of God isn’t just a feeling here—it’s evident in the transformed lives of over 4,000 children who have found healing, salvation, and purpose.

The Work is Great, but the Laborers are Few

The needs at Emmanuel are real, both spiritually and practically. The mission is clear: rebuild, restore, and redeem. Teams are needed to serve—not just within the Home but in the surrounding community. Homes need repair, rubble needs clearing, and hearts need the love of Christ poured into them.

Here’s where we step in. The immediate needs are three vehicles: a small car, a truck, and a minivan (2015 or older). But beyond that, we need hands and hearts willing to build, serve, and pray. This isn’t just about construction projects or finances—it’s about relationships. It’s about showing up.

To Know Them is to Love Them

For those close to the Southwest, Emmanuel is just a short journey away—yet the impact of serving here lasts a lifetime. Those who invest in this ministry, whether through labor, resources, or prayer, see the return not just in the transformed facilities but in the radiant faces of the children. This is kingdom work.

Josue Lopez once prayed that the darkness in Juarez would be pushed back by the light of Christ, starting on this very hill. That light is still shining. The question is—will we carry it forward?

Go with a Heart for Relationships

We need people who are willing to GO—not just to give financially, but to build relationships. When we invest in relationships first, when we show up in unity with our brothers and sisters, God will move. He will bless the work, stir hearts, and provide the resources needed—not because we led with money, but because we led with obedience.

The call is clear: Go. Be present. Love well. And watch what God does.

Will you answer the call?
